Destiny + Nate | Sunrise Session

couples photography

I woke up at 2:30 AM thinking, “omfg, why are we doing this”. I almost bailed on them, they almost bailed on me but I’m glad that didn’t happen. We left Missoula around 3AM and pulled up to the trailhead around 4:30AM. It was PITCH black. I thought we were going to have a slight amount sun light but nope! So with my high powered bike light, a cell phone flashlight and head light that apparently didn’t help at all, we took off into the woods; tripping and ninja fighting, even eating, spider webs along the way. On top of it being pitch black, it was completely silent. The forest was asleep and it was strange. We did the 2.5 miles quite quickly, the hee-bee gee-bee’s probably helped, and we were climbing rocks before 6AM and enjoyed the morning light. We could see down into the Bitterroot Valley and as the sun was rising, you could see the smoke from the Lolo fires settling into the valley. We hopped right into this. When a couple is this in tune, in love and has such a connection, it was mostly a matter of me being able to keep up with them! I gave them very little directions, “Ok, look at each other.” And they would start smothering each other, laughing, and kissing and doing their own things like I wasn’t even there. Those natural things make for such an easy, fun session! I’m so thrilled to have such fun, adventurous friends who have found such an amazing connection with each other and that let me drag them into the woods in the middle of the night!

9.14.15 Family Day | Girl Time Hiking the L
Last week I mentioned to Mia that I had never hiked the "L". She told me she hadn't either. So of course we had to do it on the next family day.  Some photos taken with Nikon D7100 some with iPhone 6.   "I was BORN for hiking!"- Mia Mia: Can I bring both sticks? Me: Sure. But you have to carry them if you want them. Mia: OKAY! So she carried two sticks that were bigger than her half up and one of them made it all the way back down the mountain. We had to get creative in the way she carried them but she did it. A couple on their way down asked if they could use my camera to take a pic of us together. You'll always find friendly people on the ...
