The Day the Sky Came Back

kids photography

Living in western Montana this time of year isn’t just the end of summer or almost fall, it’s a season of it’s own. Fire season. And it’s the only time that sucks to live here. We just finished up going 3 weeks with no sun or sky because of the all of the smoke from the wildfires. It rained ash and all. The air quality was rated at hazardous for about 2 of those weeks. BUT! Finally, we got some rain and crazy winds. “NICHOLE! THERE’S A RAINBOW!” shouts Mia. It was the first we’ve seen the skies in weeks and we were greeted with fresh rain air and a rainbow! It was a beautiful moment!

4-2 5Before we could go outside, I covered Mia in tattoos. “I wonder what my teachers are going to say?! I don’t care. I look awesome!” Mia says.

Kim + Theo | Wedding
When my two adventurer friends Kim and Theo asked me to shoot their wedding, I was beyond thrilled! A small wedding that involves hiking and mountains?! YES PLEASE. A total of 5 people, myself included, were in attendance at their wedding. We hiked 1.5 miles to the most beautiful location. I got to wear whatever I wanted (always a bonus!). During the ceremony, we all cried and laughed. We drank champagne on the way back. And these two together, amazing. It's so great to see such awesome people be so in love. Congrats to my friends and thank you for having me there!
Being in front of a camera can be scary. But not for Lorin. She is such a natural. On top of it, she's as sweet and fun to be around as she is gorgeous.
Barry Bolo | Our Teacup Poodle!
We got a teacup poodle! He's named after the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu movement berimbolo because he tips over and is often inverted. But when your legs are only 2 inches tall, it's probably pretty easy to be falling over a bunch. He'll be lucky if he reaches 3.5 lbs. Just a tiny, snugly dude. Can you tell that Mia is excited?!
